Scoutmaster Mark Lybarger-Monson
Welcome to our community! I grew up participating in Cub Scouts from as early as possible, with my mom as the den leader. Our Pack was based out of Our Lady of Assumption in Claremont, CA. My best friend’s dad led us as Webelos. Unfortunately, I only remained in Boy Scouts for a short while. Since I grew up near the mountains, I hiked regularly while growing up and loved it…and have ever since. There is no better way to witness the glory of God’s handiwork, talk with family or friends, and exercise all in one. Because so many priorities are being simultaneously fulfilled, hiking is one of the few activities where I feel that I am not juggling priorities.
I have “walked” with my son through scouts since first grade. His favorite scouting activity is backpacking. We have been a part of Troop 765 since the spring of 2019. I became an Assistant Scoutmaster in 2021 and the Advancement Chair soon after. My current role, since 2023, is Scoutmaster. I see us all as leaders serving in various roles to function as one body. For me, these are the T.E.S.T.S. of leadership:

T.E.S.T.S.
Trust in God
Example: Lead by example
Service
Teamwork
Shepherding (Guiding, Providing, Protecting)

His current duties as Assistant Scoutmaster focus primarily on supporting the Viper patrol and supporting the technological needs of the troop. .

Carly became an Assistant Scoutmaster in 2019, Her son Tadd has been in the troop since 2017.
Chad Barber
Assistant Scoutmaster
Chad is currently an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 765. Chad’s scouting history goes all the way back to Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts and Weblos, before receiving his Eagle Scout as part of Troop 199 in Palm Springs, California. His brother and father joined in family scouting adventures together, including the 1989 National Jamboree and a trek to Philmont Scout Ranch. He has been with Troop 765 since 2018 and his two sons have been scouts in the troop. His day job is being a Biology Professor at nearby California Lutheran University. Both his scouting experience and work experience show he likes teaching, nature, fun, and all things outdoors.
